Who the heck is heather?!

I’m Heather,
a photographic artist based in Cincinnati, Ohio!
Born and raised in the heart of America (Ohio), I grew up exploring cornfields and woodland areas. My sense of wonder and adventure has only continued to grow stronger. I currently reside in Cincinnati, where I live with my daughter, Emma; my poodle, Luna; and a lot of half-dead houseplants.
Being able to capture your intimate moments and special quirks makes my heart flutter! Ever since I was a wee little Heather, I've loved everything about photography. Taking rad photos of my friends at weird angles, I was amazed at how my Polaroid camera instantly captured memories I otherwise would have forgotten.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2012. Photography has always been a love of mine and in college, it only grew. I have a love for photographers such as Sally Mann, Diane Arbus, and Cindy Sherman, who step outside the box and don’t just follow trends. In 2010, I studied under Mark Osterman and France Scully-Osterman in Rochester, New York. While there, I learned one of the first forms of photography-- Wet-Plate Collodion.

Because of my experiences and education, inspiration comes to me at the unique intersection of past and present. The raw nostalgic feel of an old, fading Polaroid, merging with modern life, design, and technology. My love of world travel, and background in fine arts, draw me toward a minimalist and timeless style; and my defiant nature adds a touch of edginess to my work.
I love incorporating photography into my other passions-- traveling and dogs. I’ve been honored to capture the glory of the Grand Canyon at sunset, and the brilliance of the Sahara Desert at dawn. And my heart for rescue animals has opened another door to do some amazing work. Since May of 2019, I have been a photographer for Stray Animal Adoption Program. I am privileged to use my photography to benefit others. For more information about my work with the rescue, click here.
I am available for client work and commissions near and far. Let’s go chase some adventures and grab all those memories for you!
